PFT: Giants?release Bradshaw? |? Salary dump

Todd GranthamAP

One of the greasiest parts of National Signing Day (an altogether unctuous holiday for those who stalk 17-year-olds on Twitter), is watching the coaches de-commit to the kids who just committed to them.

Thus went Todd Grantham?s day, as the University of Georgia defensive coordinator tap-danced around questions about his interest in NFL jobs, as he?s been linked to jobs with both the Saints (where he?s interviewing tomorrow) or the Eagles (where he seems to have a chance at the job).

Grantham talked to reporters covering the Bulldogs for nearly 20 minutes, said he ?fully expects? to be back on campus, but didn?t approach denying his interest in pro jobs.

?Right now I?m the defensive coordinator at Georgia and I?m certainly looking forward to coaching those guys,? Grantham said of his new recruits, via Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph. ?You know what, I get a lot of inquiries all the time. And there?s no way that I?m gonna comment on any particular one, because if I did there was no way I could do my job.?

Of course.

A year ago, Grantham released a statement denying interest in NFL jobs, but he did no such thing this year.

?Yeah, and you know what after thinking about it I realized that was a mistake,? Grantham said. ?Because it seems that things keep popping up from time to time, so I think the best thing to do is let things be as they are and move on.?

?Let things be as they are,? is a close cousin to NFL coaches? favorite cliche ?It is what it is,? so Grantham should fit in just fine.

?I told guys that I love Georgia, and I think this is a great place. My family loves it, and I love it, and I fully expect to be here,? he said. ?But as coaches, if things come up, you?re always gonna say, Hey, what?s best for your family, and see what happens. Nothing?s come up for me from the standpoint of I feel like I have to contractually say something.?

Coaches are awesome. The over-under on Grantham working in the NFL should probably now be measured in days rather than weeks.

If not hours.
